CalArk honors Hesters
Mary and Joe Hester were named Drivers of the Year by CalArk International for 2005. Mary and Joe have been driving for CalArk since 1996, and they have never had a chargeable accident. Mary and Joe had 100-percent on-time delivery in 2005 and drove more than 217,000 miles.

Sheltons stick together at CRST
Frank and Becky Shelton went through CRST’s company sponsored training-contract school and earned their Class-A CDL licenses together. Frank took an early departure from the corporate world, as did Becky from the health care field. The Sheltons have enjoyed driving professionally for CRST Van Expedited for four years.

Heartland Express raises pay
Heartland Express raised pay an additional 4 cents per mile. This raise will take their over-the-road company drivers to 50 cents per mile in all the areas they run and owner-operators to 95 cents per mile, before any additional pay for fuel stabilization.

Schneider implements new pay package
Schneider National implemented a new per diem pay package option effective Jan. 1. Under the program, Schneider will reimburse eligible company drivers based on a portion of their mileage rate, tax-free, for each night spent away from home, thus lowering taxable income and increasing take-home pay.

Marten Transport honors 33 drivers
Marten Transport honored 33 Drivers of the Month for October 2005. To qualify for Driver of the Month, drivers must have a minimum of 10,500 miles during the month and be accident free with 100-percent on-time deliveries. Combined, the Drivers of the Month averaged 13,622 miles during the month of October.

Highway Watch announces new alliance
The Highway Watch program announced a new alliance between the Highway Informa-tion Sharing and Analysis Center (Highway ISAC) and the Emergency Management and Response Information Sharing and Analysis Center (EMR-ISAC) that will disseminate Highway ISAC reports to the 22,000 first re-sponders in the EMR-ISAC network. The new alliance allows members of the EMR-ISAC to receive information gathered from Highway Watch reports directly from the Highway ISAC.
Wal-Mart awards Crete Carrier
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. named Crete Carrier Corporation its Carrier of the Year. This award recognizes Crete Carrier as Wal-Mart’s top transportation vendor. Crete was also named Wal-Mart’s Dedicated Grocery Carrier of the Year, based on the outstanding services provided in serving two Wal-Mart distribution centers.
